What is The Ordinary Amino Acids and what does it do?
By The Ordinary
Amino Acids (essential and non-essential) work in synergy with each other to form proteins that enable various biological processes. On the skin, Amino Acids promote skin repair, hydration, and water retention.
Our concentrated solution includes Amino Acids and Amino Acid derivatives to provide a combined total concentration of 17% (by weight). This resembles the composition of the skin’s own Amino Acids within our Natural Moisturizing Factors to provide the above-listed functions in addition to enhanced barrier support, elasticity, osmotic balance, and desquamation.
The formulation also includes a 5% (by weight) concentration of D-Panthenol (a pro-vitamin of Vitamin B5) which provides surface and below-surface hydration, while aiding in skin repair and anti-irritant functions.
Amino Acids + B5 may cause a slight tingling upon application and can be mixed with other serums or creams to reduce this sensation. We suggest applying Amino Acids + B5 as one of the first steps of your routine before oils and creams, morning and night.
When and how do I use The Ordinary Amino Acids?
- Use Amino Acids in the morning and/or evening.
- Apply a few drops and pat or massage it into your skin.
- Amino Acids is a water-based product so would be applied as one of your first layers before any emulsions, oils and creams.
- If you scroll down to FAQ, you can find some examples of layering The Ordinary.

What consistency, colour and smell of Amino Acids?

The pH of Amino Acids is 4.75-5.25
What is the PAO of Amino Acids?
This should be used within 12 months of opening.

Amino Acids Reviews
Love The Ordinary Amino Acids. I bought this one a few weeks ago. I’m 36 male with combo skin. This is super, super moisturizing and very efficient. I only need 4 drops for my whole face and neck (but I have a beard, so u might need more).
One of my favourite products 🙂
I wanted to love The Ordinary Amino Acids, but I get hives and reddened skin.
Amino Acids is greatly used as an add on in your normal routine when you need an extra boost of hydration.
I like Amino Acids. I am using tretinoin, and it is part of my hydration routine.
Amino Acids deserves the love that the Hyaluronic serum gets.
