The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution is an exfoliator created for blemish-prone skin and designed to clear dead skin cells that can contribute to clogged pores, providing skin clarity with use over time.
The exfoliator offers the same benefits as the old version. This new version ensures the delivery of Salicylic Acid to the outermost layer of the skin, where it’s most beneficial.

FAQS about the new Salicylic Acid 2% answered by Deciem
So how has the new Salicylic Acid improved from the last formula? The new Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2%% Solution was formulated to offer the same benefits as its predecessor while curbing concerns of skin discomfort that can be associated with the use of SA. This was achieved by ensuring a focused delivery of SA to the outermost layer of the skin, where it is most beneficial, alongside the inclusion of a hydrating saccharide isomerate, offering appropriate barrier support.
What’s the difference between this Salicylic Acid one and the anhydrous solution? This one has a more instantaneous effect than the Salicylic Acid 2% Anhydrous Solution which has a gentler approach to decongestion and exfoliation.
What is Salicylic Acid used for? Salicylic 2% Solution helps to exfoliate the skin and help decongest pores. We recommend using this in your PM routine on dry clean skin before moisturizer
What’s the difference between this and the mask? Or are they different? This product was formulated to be applied frequently as a leave-on formula, while the Salicylic Acid 2% Masque was designed for bi-weekly application only
Can I use Salicylic Acid in the summer months? Deciem´s reply: Yes, you can use this all year round.
This product seems to go a bit soapy when I apply it. This is quite a common problem. It can happen with Niacinamide too. Try using less product and also make sure you have thoroughly rinsed off your cleanser so there’s no residue.
Can I use Salicylic Acid with Niacinamide? Yes, they´re OK to use together. They are used together in this regimen for the look of blemishes and congestion.
Salicylic Acid Reviews
Let’s hear what some of the moderators of the Deciem Chat Room have to say about The Ordinary Salicylic Acid.
Rachael Candice A slightly tacky formula which makes for a strange base to layer over. However, as a spot treatment for breakouts, it can reduce inflammation drastically overnight.
Tracy: Burned my skin…not a glowing review, sorry.
Nia Patten, It has a sticky, soapy texture that I found tolerable, and it didn’t burn or irritate. I found it made my acne worse, I’m afraid. I would proceed with caution with this one.
meggieslashes. The salicylic Acid, hands down, is THE BEST! I use it all over my face after the glycolic toner in the evening, and my skin is blemish-free and smooth in texture. I have struggled with adult acne on my chin and parts of my cheeks. Since I have been using Salicylic Acid, I am blemish-free! Please, ladies, give this a try!
carolinagsietra Game changer! I apply it on my spots as local treatment, and they are gone the day after
thebeautywonk. 5/5 I love this!! I will absolutely repurchase it. It dramatically reduces the acne size within just 2 days (I documented it in one of my Insta posts, too) and works excellent for blackheads. If u got oily, acne-prone skin, GET IT!
