What is The Ordinary Niacinamide and what does it do?
- regulates Sebum
- minimizes pores
Deciem´s simple explanation: Niacinamide, also known as Vitamin B3, is a high-strength vitamin and mineral formula that helps to support barrier function while reducing the appearance of visible shine and signs of congestion.
This ingredient has also been shown to have a brightening effect on the skin, making it a truly multifunctional ingredient that can be easily incorporated into any routine. We have included Niacinamide at a high 10% concentration within this formula. Additionally, this formula includes a 1% concentration of Zinc PCA, which works to support the skin’s function as a protective barrier.

Which products can and cannot be used with Niacinamide?
Deciem recommends avoiding using Niacinamide in the same routine as their vitamin c products.
- Up until November 2020, Niacinamide serum only conflicted with direct vitamin c products.
- November 2020, Deciem suggested avoiding all vitamin c products with Niacinamide.
- On the regimen guide, it now says to avoid Niacinamide serum with direct vitamin c.
This is what Deciem said in November 2020 regarding Niacinamide and derivatives.
We do not recommend combining Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid, Ethylated L-Ascorbic Acid or Vitamin C Derivatives) with Niacinamide with Direct or Ethylated Vitamin C and Vitamin C Derivatives due to the formation of a salt complex that has the potential to reduce the integrity of both compounds.
If you wish to combine both products into a regimen, we recommend using them on alternate days and/or nights.
What is the PAO?
The Ordinary Niacinamide should be used within 12 months of opening.
