Back in September, I was invited to The Ordinary HQ in Toronto, where I got to have a sneek peak at all the new products coming this year. Now, this was not a product I was expecting from The Ordinary – a clear mascara that hydrates and moistures – launched today, 9th December 2025.

My thoughts on Mascara
As I, “mature”, I´ve learned that my favourite and probably everyone´s go-to Black Mascara can be a little harsh on the eyes. I have started moving toward brown or clear mascara, particularly during the day. However, I have yet to find a clear mascara that can give the same volume to lashes as a pigmented mascara.
I think it´s important to re-evaluate a lot of things as we age, skincare, the way we do our make-up, shades and colours we have probably used for years. Softer and more natural is where I am heading. I love a bit of mascara on my lower lashes but I always end up looking like a panda – so a good clear mascara is perfect.

I’m waiting for the full product to arrive before sharing my final thoughts, as I’ve only been testing a sample so far. I really like the brush — the shape and application are both very smooth — and the concept of a hydrating, clear mascara is appealing. I did wonder why they couldn´t combine the lash & brow serum with this because many people wanted an applicator like this.
Below is a before-and-after where you can see a noticeable difference. I did use my fingers to lift my lashes slightly, as mine naturally point downward. I also used it on my brows. Now the official page is up, and it does say to curl the lashes before using this.
At this stage, I’d say I like the product, particularly the hydrating feel it gives the lashes. It doesn’t fully dry down on me, which may be part of how it’s designed to maintain softness. It feels a little “vaselinish”. Many traditional mascaras dry stiff, which can lead to flaking or leave lashes feeling brittle, so this softer finish may appeal to those who prefer a more natural look and feel.
Overall, it’s a product worth trying if you’re interested in a clear mascara that prioritises hydration and keeps lashes feeling soft rather than dry or rigid.

Can you use your regular mascara with this? Yes you can, just give this a few minutes before applying mascara.
How long do your eye lashes hold for? It is formulated to be long-lasting.
Will The Ordinary Mascara be available in Sephora EU? Yes at a later date.
What date will Sephora Canada have the Mascara? February 10th online.
Are there any health benefits to this mascara? It helps by enhacing the look of the lashes and keeping them lifted.
Someone has said – “so this is basically a clear mascara”? Answered “with great curl hold”.
How do I wash this off? The Mascara is best removed with a make up cleanser.
Can this mascara be used if you already have a lash lift? You should be able to use it but you should consult your technician.
So do we need an eyelash curler? We do recommend using it with a curler for best results but it depends on your personal preference.
Does this have any ingredients that other lash enhancers have that thin your skin or ruin your lashes? The Ordinary answer “we did a safety assessment and it´s non-irritating to the eyes.
Is it moisturizing or does it help grow lashes too? You can use the multi-peptide lash & brow serum as well.
